We left home around 12:30 in fairly heavy rain, not a lot of fun but if it means we get it over with on the first day, maybe the rest of the trip will be fine. At 1:30pm we’re at McDonalds, Goodna and it’s still showering. That’s better than it was when it was pouring earlier but it means we start with wets on. Larry and Annette, Des and Joan and Therese and I head south through the intermittent showers to Stanthorpe. Top up with fuel and Armidale is the aim, good motel, good pub, a good steak to start the trip and catch up with Simon and Carol who left earlier today. Solid heavy rain from Tenterfield to Armidale tested my new type of tyres, not overly happy with the result, but we arrived, checked in and got to the pub before the meals were off.
