Larry’s OK so the plan was to head for Leven Canyon and Cradle Mountain to enjoy some scenery. I was getting used to this tourist thing. We were joined by Bill and Mary and as usual, regardless of where we rode, there were dozens of other bikes out and about. Here we go again, check the map, another wrong road and we needed to back track to get to Leven Canyon where those that didn’t like heights had to hold their breath while photos were taken.
On the way to Cradle Mountain we came across a shed on the side of the road advertising historical bikes. Two brothers had a collection of old machinery and took the opportunity to make some money by charging a small fee to have a look. Mainly Nortons and Vincents with an Indian Chief and a few other old bikes thrown in. Half the bikes were fitted with side cars which of course had my interest, especially when he had a model the same as my old one but incorrectly named. My good turn for the day was to correct his misinformation.
The day also included some more fantastic roads on the way to Cradle Mountain and the beautiful Dove Lake at its base. Fantastic scenery with us then heading toward Sheffield passing Mount Roland, Sheffield is well worth the visit as every second building has a mural painted on the front or side. Made the town quite colourful.
Tonight is meet and greet, the first of two official dinners of the AGM
