Not a good night’s sleep and awake at 5:45. Therese stirs at 7:00 and while we think about getting up, both of us go back to sleep only to be woken by the phone at 7:30. Too asleep to find the phone I actually miss the call and see it was Thommo. I call back and he and Val are about to head out on the club ride. At least we are awake now and can get moving. Finally, after breakfast and packing up, we hit the road at 9:30. There goes the plan for the day. The trip through the Warrumbungle’s is off even though the road is now sealed. We wouldn't have enough time to do the Western Plains Zoo and still get to West Wyalong. So, it’s off to Dubbo with a stop at Gilgandra for fuel. Into the zoo with the plan of 2.5 to 3 hours then head for West Wyalong. 3.5 hours later we head for a coffee and run into a group of Ulysseans from Sydney and as usual, that means a further delay as we talk bikes, Goldwings of course, one has a 2007 the same as ours and they all come out to check out the lights and accessories and see us on our way. What a great way to spend the afternoon, taking photos of animals, getting sunburnt as I forgot the caps, having coffee with new friends. I did get some good oil on a local motel that may be useful if we can plan a get together with the Victorian group.
Mobile, but too late for West Wyalong and tent pitching. We decide that Forbes will do for tonight as it will only add about an hour to what will be a simple transport day to Echuca and the real start of the holiday. Tent pitched, great camp kitchen with an entertainer and a TV so Therese can watch Australian Idol, and a power point to recharge the laptop and a freezer for the esky blocks.
Off to bed for a relaxing ride tomorrow.
