Just a short update tonight to let everyone know that we have arrived. A bit of a delay leaving home as I ran out of time to do all those last minute, 5 minute jobs that inevitability take a lot longer than that. We were early anyway allowing Matthew to get Pearl and Hazel off to bed before taking us to the airport but early enough to still leave him a reasonably early night.
Our flight was with Singapore Airlines via Singapore. The first leg was in an Airbus A350-900 and we had a great smooth flight, leaving early and arriving in Singapore even earlier. With a rescheduled take off time from Singapore, we were able to get almost 3 hours break, allowing time to wander within the terminal. Changi Airport is beautiful and clean and although we only saw Terminal 3, there are gardens, sculptures and a butterfly house as we visited just after sunrise, there wasn't any movement from the butterflies. Maybe on the return we will have a better opportunity. Taking off in a slightly older A350-900 but still a great flight with few corrugations on the route. In on-time and met by a Nexus representative we were guided to a luxury limo and within 45 minutes we were checked-in to our room and fitting the Japanese SIM cards to the phones.
Met up with the first of our compatriots, a couple from Perth, I'd say we are all here on the 31st floor and headed out into a light shower of rain for a light dinner at a little cafe in the hotel complex and now for an early night to add to the 3 hours of sleep I've had since my 6 o'clock start on Monday. I can't sleep on planes.
